How consistent is the record?

After assembling the archive, we checked every answer, product page and glossary entry against the others and against the original sources. We asked two questions: does he say the same things over time, and does he mark the limits of what he knows? Here is what we found.

His core views hold steady across twelve years. The ideas at the center of his work appear in the same form from his early Head-Fi posts in 2014 to his interviews in 2026. They are:

• the timing of transients matters more than conventional measurements suggest;
• long filters that approach the ideal sinc function are the way to reconstruct it;
• small-signal errors and noise floor modulation are audible far below the expected thresholds;
• listening tests are needed to check what measurements say.

His case against worrying about pre-ringing in 2014 Head-Fi, Apr 2014 is the case he makes today.

Where his view changed, he said so. He preferred USB to optical on DAVE in 2016. In January 2018 he wrote "I was wrong about that" and explained why Head-Fi, Jan 2018. The question pages show changes like this with their dates.

The differences we found are minor. Figures such as tap counts, development times and power ratings vary between posts and talks, mostly in spoken interviews. A few small technical statements were never reconciled, and each is noted on its page. None of them changes the substance of what he holds.

He separates what he has measured from what he has heard. He qualifies listening impressions with "based on my listening with my set-up -YMMV" Head-Fi, May 2018. He calls his own unpublished listening tests anecdotal Head-Fi, Apr 2022, and has said he can't rule out confirmation bias in his non-blind tests Head-Fi, Jun 2017.
